- You are able to give first aid according to official guidelines of first aid
- You understand the importance of first aid skills and you know the central terminology of first aid and the meaning of mechanism of injury at the first aid to an injured person
- You are able to make a working diagnosis and call for additional rescue forces, if neccessary take safety factors into account in first aid situations
- You are able to give immediate first aid in the accidents and in the most common cases of illness
- You are able to give emergency first aid and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (a baby, a child, an adult) and use automated external defibrillator as a part of resuscitation
- You can track the patient's condition
- You give information about the prevention of injuries

- First aid-certificate is valid for 3 years
- How to act in the scene (accident, attack of illness)
- Examination of the patient and mechanism of injury

In the course, you will learn the basics of productization, i.e. the process of developing and developing an idea into a commercial product.

The teaching methods are to familiarize individuals and groups with the knowledge base in Moodle (recorded expert lectures and other accompanying material) and to plan and implement individual assignments and a summative group assignment, the presentation of which is at the end of the study period. In addition, a discussion task online.

The course is available for in-coming exchange students and it can be accomplished during an exchange period abroad.

Completion alternatives

The course in another Finnish or foreign university with the similar content and extent can compensatet this Karelia course.
The student who is doing part of her/ his studies or internship abroad can accomplish the course by compiling a report that discusses her/his personal cross-cultural experiences and reflects them using the knowledge base and conceptual framework of this course. The student must contact the teacher in charge before departure to receive more detailed reporting instructions. The report should be returned within one month from the end of the exchange or training period.

The student is familiar with the theoretical aspects of the course and has proven his/her knowledge in the exam. The student has been active during the class discussions and workshops and has been able to demonstrate his/her ability to apply theoretical knowledge into case studies and group work.

Students will master the basic mathematical skills needed for tourism management.
They understand the importance of external accounting (bookkeeping) and management accounting to support the short and long term planning of a company or association. They understand the importance of accounting legislation and the concept of double-entry bookkeeping. They understand the basics of the formation of the company's profit for the financial year, the basics of VAT and the importance of auditing.
They can identify the costs of a product or service, price it using the break-even method and assess the profitability at the product level.
They will be able to obtain further information on the subject and to use the services of business advisory organisations and accountancy firms.

Brush-up of basic mathematical skills.
Basics of bookkeeping. Income statement and balance sheet. VAT system and VAT calculations.
Cost accounting and mark-up based pricing.
Cost-volume-profit analysis: variable and fixed costs, break-even point, margin of safety.

Student
- understand the benefits of modeling in event construction, visualization and communication
- knows the basic functions of the SketchUp for Web 3d program from the point of view of area planning of the event
- can do simple area planning with the program, e.g. draw the area map as a 2d image or, if desired, as a 3d model
- get sufficient skills to continue and expand the use of the program in the modeling of event areas in the future

Content

In the course, you will familiarize yourself with the use of the modeling program in the area planning of the event. You will learn how to use the basic functions of the free SketchUp for Web 3d program that works for private use and defines area planning. You apply your skills either in drawing an existing or imaginary event area and in 3d modeling.

With the help of the program, you can easily try and modify the location of different elements in the event area, always with the right dimensions. You can use the program to draw, for example, the base map or other guide map required as an attachment to the rescue plan, or visualize it in a 3d model for the partners.

The studies are carried out entirely as online studies, which you can complete according to your own schedule. You study how to use the program independently with the help of instructions and teaching recordings, and you apply what you have learned in practice tasks.

The training is aimed at operators of the event industry and those interested in the field. Studying and using the program requires fluent basic computer skills, but no other special skills.

Objective

On completion of the course you can
- pronounce, read and write (by hand) Russian
- cope orally with simple and routine situations
- introduce yourself and others
- shortly describe your own background and immediate needs
- answer simple questions about yourself and ask similar questions of others
- use polite language appropriate to the language culture
- write short, simple messages: a small personal biography, a description of the day's activities, a postcard from your travels and a short description of the services available in the locality
- understand short, simple messages on the topics of the course
- understand the core content of short dialogues presented in a clear manner

Content

You will study and learn the basics of Russian both in class and independently.

In class, you will practise speaking about yourself and simulate small everyday situations with a partner, in small groups and independently. The activities will strengthen your speaking and listening skills.
In addition to face-to-face learning, you will complete weekly reading, writing and information retrieval tasks, where you will apply the skills acquired in face-to-face learning. You will also reflect on your own studying and learning.

Communication activities
Giving and asking personal details: names, nationality, occupation, age, family, language skills, hobbies, opinions and preferences.
Asking about and describing services and products: availability, location, opening hours, features, prices.
Basic telephone phrases
Going to the café and making small purchases.
Characteristics of Russian communication culture: using ты/вы, addressing people and using names.

Grammar
-Russian alphabet: pronunciation and intonation,
-reading and writing (by hand)
-gender of nouns and adjectives
-personal pronouns, possessive pronouns and possessive structure
-prepositional and accusative singular of nouns
-singular and plural nominative forms of nouns and adjectives
