Objective

You know how to argue and to justify your opinions and know how to talk about everyday working life situations. You know how to work in English in various phases of a design process both orally and in writing. You can describe and present processes. You know how to present at a trade fair. You can work in projects run in English.

Spoken communication at work and in customer contacts. Arguing and discussion skills. Trade fairs. Reporting and documentation related to projects. Process description.

Spoken and written communication at an engineer's work and in customer contacts. Formal written technical and academic reports. Academic language. Arguing and discussion skills. Trade fairs. Reporting and documentation related to projects and literature. Process description, process and design terminology, and spoken presentations.

Contact teaching, active participation and interaction. Spoken presentation and a written assignment and a possible written exam

Assessment of spoken and written performance on Skills Level B2 (CEFR) and according to the criteria of English for professional purposes at Karelia UAS

Exam schedules

Written exam at the end of the course. Possible smaller tests in eg Moodle.

Completion alternatives

Accreditation of prior learning (AHOT process) with demonstration of learning and skills. To be agreed with the lecturer. (Minimum C1 skills level)
