Main learning outcomes
• The student can explain the characteristics of European climatic and vegetation zones
• The student understands the variation of the forest resources and services in Europe
• The student can describe the history of European forests
• The student understands the current forest management practices
• The student knows the basics of the European forest policy

Content

This study unit is about forestry in Europe. During this course you will learn about forestry in different European climatic & vegetation zones, forest resources and ownerships, forestry practices, regional challenges and European forest policy.

Location and time

The course will be implemented between August-December 2023.

Materials

The teacher gives instructions on the study materials at the beginning of the course. Most of the materials will be appointed in Moodle platform.

Teaching methods

During this course you will learn about forestry in different European climatic & vegetation zones, forest resources and ownerships, forestry practices, regional challenges and European forest policy.
The course consists of the following learning activities: lectures, practical work, project work, excursions, exam and independent study.

Working life cooperation will be presented as case examples and through study visits.

The course exam is arranged at the end of the course.

The course is part of the INVEST specialisation studies (Forestry Adaptation to a Changing Environment - FACE).
