Objective

The student can: - Explain the main principles of sustainable forest management. - Describe the basic concepts of forest ecology and the main factors determining biodiversity in forest ecosystems. - Understand the main principles of forest management for even-aged and uneven-aged forestry. - Identify forest and peatland plant species. - Evaluate the role of forest management on different ecosystem services. - Describe the factors affecting forest health and resilience.  

Methods of completion

Blended teaching: Hybrid lectures, cooperative work in groups and Moodle assignments online, field teaching.

Methods of completion

Study methods: lectures (20 h), individual learning of course materials (70 h), group work and exercises (35 h), field trip (8 h). Evaluation criteria: exam (0-5), learning tasks (pass/fail), species identification (pass/fail) and group work (pass/fail). The field trip is mandatory and must be completed to receive credit points. Grading scale 0-5
