Objective

After the course, the student can speak about their hobbies, leisure time and everyday routines in Chinese, organize meetings and act as a host to Chinese visitors. The student also learns basic vocabulary and phrases typically used when travelling, such as purchasing tickets, hotel reservations and asking for directions. The course emphasises spoken language which is studied with the help of the pinyin system. The course continues the study of characters mainly with the aid of independent study materials and various dictionary applications. The goal is to both recognize and write 100–150 characters as well as review the 100–150 characters learned on Chinese 1. The study of Chinese customs is integrated into the language studies.
