Objective
The aim of the course is to help you understand the Finnish society and to improve your chances of becoming a member of it as quickly as possible. As an ex-pat student, you will have a better chance of integration when you gain a good understanding of how the new society works.
Content
Topics discussed during the course explain how the Finnish society works and tell the story of Finland:
- Functioning and structure of Finnish society
- Values, laws and democratic principles
- Rights and obligations in terms of an individual
- Everyday practices
Location and time
Wärtsilä Campus, weeks 35-43, classes 2 x 2h / week
Materials
Material provided by the teacher (Moodle) and visiting lecturers.
Teaching methods
Contact classes at the campus and visits outside the university 32 h.

The course is designed for students who have come to Finland only recently.
