Objective

On completion of the course the successful student will be able toidentify basic concepts and issues relating to culture and intercultural communicationapply theories of intercultural communication into his/her own professional contextpay attention to his/her own communication skills in working lifeanalyse the role of intercultural communication competence as a professional skill in different work settings

Culture, cultural diversity, cultural awareness, intercultural communication, communication competence

Location and time

Kick-off seminar (2 h), Course assignment workshop (1 h), Closing seminar (2 h), Independent studying and pair work 130 h.

Teaching methods

On completion of the course
• you are able to identify basic concepts and phenomena relating to 'culture' and intercultural communication
• you are able to apply theories of intercultural communication into their own professional context
• you are able to pay attention to and critically analyse their own communication skills in working life
• you are able to analyse the role of intercultural communication competence as a professional skill in different work settings.

Core content: Culture, cultural diversity, cultural awareness, intercultural communication, communication competence in working life.
