One learns to recognize the risks that forestry and environmental changes cause to the biodiversity of Finnish forests. Sustainability of forestry, endangered biotypes, endangered species.
Accomplishment methods
Field days (4) obligatory. Lectures (in Finnish) or study material. Test.
Content
Forest ecology. What is sustainability of forestry? Present state and development of Finnish forests. Human impact.
Legal protection (Forestry act, Nature Conservation Act), environmental standards and certificates (FSC, PEFC), everyday sustainable forestry practices.
