Content scheduling

The course includes lectures and reading of some literature. The theoretical knowledge will be assessed in a written exam. Additionally the course includes experiential learning in workshops and pair and small-group assignments. The workshops require active attendance. Additionally, a reflective learning diary (log) is required.

Objective

You are aware of the essential cultural factors that affect interpersonal communication and multicultural teamwork. You are able to adjust your speech and communication style, and accommodate your behaviour to converge with a multicultural group.

Materials and literature announced at the beginning of the study unit. Course materials available in Moodle.

Teaching methods

The student is aware of the essential cultural factors that affect interpersonal communication and multicultural teamwork. S/he is able to adjust his/her speech and communication style, and accommodate his/her behaviour to converge with a multicultural group.

Basics of intercultural communication. Principles of group dynamics and teamwork.

Completion alternatives

The student who has accomplished an equivalent course in a higher education institution may apply for RPL (compensation) in Peppi. Before submitting the application, the student should contact the teacher in charge.
