Content scheduling

Introduction to respiratory and cardiovascular physiotherapy 2 ECTS: Internal medicine and circulatory surgery (UEF online classes); Role of lifestyle factors (diet, physical activity, sleep) in the prevention and management of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases; Revision and application of therapeutic practice (strength, endurance, mobility and movement control) to respiratory and cardiovascular physiotherapy;

Physiotherapy of cardiac and cardiovascular diseases 3 ECTS: Prevention and risk factors; Medicinal fundamentals; Physiotherapeutical analysis and assessment; Physiotherapeutical planning, implementation and assessment (acute, recovery and maintenance stages, Hyvä Sydän group, individual patients);

Metabolic diseases' physiotherapy 1,5 ECTS: Medicinal fundamentals of obesity, metabolic syndrome and diabetes; Prevention and risk factors; Physiotherapeutical assessment and implementation (e.g. lifestyle management coaching, use of technology, motivation);

Physiotherapy of respiratory diseases 1,5 ECTS: Medicianal fundamentals, prevention and risk factors; Physiotherapeutical assessment and implementation (spirometry; active, passive and environmental factors);

Objective

After this module, you will be aware of the importance of the implications of respiratory and coronary diseases on public health in Finland. Further, after this module, you will be able to plan, execute and assess respiratory and cardiovascular related physiotherapy, and to do this in a customer oriented approach using research knowledge. You will also understand the importance of using a psycho-social approach in the prevention and rehabilitation of respiratory and cardiovascular physiotherapy.
