Objective

You will learn the basics of music recording, mixing and sound processing, as well as analog and digital processing.You will be able to make audio connections and you will learn how to work in the sound studio.You will be able to make and publish a finalized small-scale music recording.

Live music is recorded and mixed.

Location and time

Karelia University of Applied Sciences' Tikkarinne campus sound studio E017 and the necessary computer classes

Materials

Given at the beginning of the course. Study material available as online material for distance learning

Teaching methods

The studies include the use of devices, connections and software suitable for sound recordings. Both digitally and analogously.
Record music and other audio works, and mix and process recorded works into finished releases.
Processes are studied from production, technological and musical perspectives.
The recordings are made into master originals for the students 'own use and for the use of the University of Applied Sciences' own teaching activities.
The copyrights of the works remain with the authors.

Completion alternatives

A test performed for a teacher, or a partial testing with an exam or portfolio. Competence acquired in working life and / or hobbies and its demonstration as evidence and reports or portfolio.

Student workload

25 hours of independent distance learning using a given online material.
25 hours of distance learning and guided distance learning under the guidance of a teacher
35 hours of contact learning in the studio and sound workstations under the guidance of a teacher
35 hours of own supervised learning in groups as contact teaching in the studio and on workstations.
10 hours evaluation and feedback

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass / fail or numerical rating 0-5.
Activity in distance learning, completion of tasks, activity in exercises, group and self-assessment.
