Objective
The student understands the basic concepts related with culture, ethnicity, multiculturalism and other intercultural issues. The student learns to recognise and assess different cultural representations and their meanings for people involved, and learns to analyse culturally motivated behaviour. The student understands the importance of gender in culture and ethnicity. The student learns to articulate cultural topics in different modes of discourse.
Content
Theoretical context
- the basic concepts of culture, ethnicity, multiculturalism, identity, cultural adaptation and cultural shock, culture in media, intercultural communication.
Practical assignments are related to topical issues of intercultural communication and the communication of cultural differences.
Teaching methods
