Tavoitteet

The Life in Finland Orientation provides imporant and valuable information for international degree students who move to Finland to study. The orientation covers relocation and integration related topics.

After the orientation:

- You know which matters with authorities are needed to done when arriving to Finland
- You are aware of practical matters on and off campus
- You know your rights and responsibilities
- You are aware of safety matters in everyday life
- You know and understand the basic housing rules and regulations in Finland
- You know how to use social and health care services in Finland
- You know the basics of Finnish working life, job searching and recruitment process in Finland
- You know the basics of the Finnish society and its history, Finnish culture and customs
- You are familiar with the North Karelia area and City of Joensuu
- You know the possibilities for leisure activities in the region

- Practical matters on and off campus
- Rights, responsibilities and safety matters
- Accommodation, health services and available support from Karelia UAS
- Employment and working
- Living in Finland, North Karelia, Joensuu
- Free time and hobbies

Aika ja paikka

All the lectures are held on campus.The course runs from Mid-February until the beginning of April.

Oppimateriaalit

Materials are provided by the teacher in Moodle.

The course includes contact teaching (lectures) and independent studying.

Tenttien ajankohdat ja uusintamahdollisuudet

The course includes five quizzes / small exams. There is one week to complete each quiz / small exam.

Lectures 12 hours (6 lectures)
Independent studying 10-20 hours

Arviointikriteerit, hyväksytty/hylätty

Active presence (at least 4 out of 6 lectures) and participation on lectures and completing at least 4 quizzes / exams by the given deadlines.
