Objective
• Define mental resilience in the context of climate change from the point of view of the older person.
• Provide examples of direct and indirect effects of climate change on mental health and wellbeing.
• Describe the main factors contributing to resilience related to climate change in older people.
• Explain how change can be promoted at individual and community level based on the main theories of behavioural change.
• Identify opportunities to promote resilience and mental wellbeing based on nature contact and connectedness for older persons and Health and Social Care professionals.
Content
This micro-credential gives students an introduction to (1) the mental health effects of climate change for older people; (2) how to build psychological resilience in older people and in oneself; and (3) how to proactively confront resistance to change within the context of building resilience.

The microcredential is implemented as part of the international chAnGE project. The study materials are provided via the Moodle platform of a partner university, which is why you will be directed to Webropol to accept the privacy statement. You must begin with the course Climate Change and Its Effects on Older Persons’ Health, as it forms the foundation for the other microcredentials. The course is at EQF level 6 (Bachelor’s degree level).
