Objective

After this course you will be familiar with the German-language press and magazines in your field. You will expand and deepen your vocabulary in your study field. You will also practise writing in German on the basis of an article.

Content

Working on independent articles (6) on your field of study:
- Word lists
- Summary(s) in Finnish
- Essay in German
- End discussion with the teacher on the assignments in either German/Finnish

Location and time

Independent study online, in Moodle and Zoom

Teaching methods

You will be familiar with the German-language press and magazines in your own field. You will deepen your knowledge and extend vocabulary of your own field of study. Learning takes place independently online. Final discussion (1h) with the teacher in August at a mutually agreed time.

70 hours of independent work
5 hours preparation for the end discussion

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

- The selected articles are of a satisfactory level, the tasks are done according to the instructions but with little effort, the final discussion is in Finnish, only the introduction is in German.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

- The selected articles are of a good level, the tasks are done carefully, the final discussion is mainly in Finnish, but introductions and interactions are also in German, even if the content of the articles cannot be discussed.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- The selected articles are on a demanding level, the assignments are completed carefully and thoroughly, the final discussion is mainly in German.
