Objective
You learn how to design and carry out (qualitative) community consultations on different energy aspects, taking the communities needs and environment into account. You are able to conduct and present feasibility analyses for energy systems. You are able to connect legislative frameworks to research knowledge and the needs of the community. You understand decentralised renewable energy and energy storage technologies and you know how to apply this information into real-life systems as well as justify and defend your choices. You will also be able to apply integrated landscape approaches to your work.
Content
The main contents of this course include:
- Community consultations by utilising qualitative methods
- Decentralised renewable energy technologies
- Energy storages
- Feasibility analyses for energy systems
- Including integrated landscape approach into the content (utilisation of geographic information system in energy planning)
Location and time
Classroom teaching, energy laboratory working, study visits
Materials
All the materials are collected on Moodle-platform.
Teaching methods
In this course you will be applying different kind of applied research methods like energy audits and feasibility analyses. You will get familiar with different kind of decentralised renewable energy technologies and how to utilise them on a community level. During this course you will work as a team and you will be solving renewable energy related case from working life.
Employer connections
Project work will be done in working life collaboration.
Student workload
This course is 5 ECTS which corresponds to 135 hours work load for a student.
