Teaching methods

The student studies the test materials independently using the materials indicated in the section.
The Hygiene Passport test tests are held on the Wärtsilä campus of Karelia University of Applied Sciences.

Hygiene expertise in the food sector is stipulated in the food legislation. A person working in the food industry must master the basics of the food industry and know how to handle food safely. The purpose of the hygiene passport is to promote food safety in the sector.

If the employee works in a food premises (e.g. cafe, restaurant, fast food restaurant, commercial kitchen, food store, bakery or food manufacturing factory) and handles unpackaged perishable food (e.g. milk, meat, fish), he needs a hygiene pass.
