Objective
The student is able to describe the structure of association activities, lead their own work and that of others in a position of trust, and manage their area of responsibility. They are familiar with Karelia’s rules and guidelines relevant to their role in association work.
Content
The course is based on practical involvement in the board of a student union committee or a student association operating at Karelia. The student participates in meetings, planning, event organization, and other association activities. The course is carried out in cooperation with the Student Union POKA.
Location and time
The course is conducted during the academic year, primarily on the campuses of Karelia University of Applied Sciences and at the offices or meeting spaces of student committees or associations.

• Karelia UAS internal rules and guidelines
Teaching methods
The course is completed by serving on the board of a student union committee or a student association operating at Karelia. Learning is based on practical engagement, taking responsibility, and participating in the everyday activities of an association. The student takes part in meetings, event organization, and administrative planning.
Employer connections
The course offers experience in association work, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership—skills that are highly useful in working life. The activities develop workplace competencies, particularly in project management, communication, and collaboration.

There is no separate exam.

The course equips the student with capabilities to participate in international association or student organization activities if desired.

The course is completed through practical participation in student committee or association activities.
Student workload
The course scope is 1–5 ECTS credits depending on the level of involvement:
• 1 ECTS = approx. 27 hours of active participation
• Total workload varies by role and responsibilities within the association or committee
