Objective
Finnish 2 continues from what you learned in Finnish 1. Before taking this course, you must successfully complete Finnish 1. This course has compulsory attendance. You must attend the lectures.
You can use and understand sentences and frequently used expressions on everyday topics. You can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. You are able to discuss and write about e.g. freetime, your day, travel arrangements and shopping. You are able to give instructions and orders, describe immediate environment and suggest a meeting.
Content
- Expanding vocabulary related to everyday life (e.g. clothes, the looks, housing, basic adjectives, weather, travel arrangements, places)
- Dialogues related to everyday tasks and social life
- Basic grammar: k-p-t-change in verbs and nouns, imperative form, local cases, some noun types
Teaching methods
You can pronounce Finnish in an understandable manner. You can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases. You are able to use the basic vocabulary and grammar to express your own ideas in elementary everyday situations. You can ask and answer to basic questions. You are able to tell about yourself and use polite phrases and greetings in everyday situations, e.g. meeting friends, asking about the price and ordering.
You must have 60 % attendance in order to participate in the course exam.
Participation in the course requires that you have completed the Finnish 1 course or have corresponding skills.
Completion alternatives
The course can only be completed by attending lectures and taking the final exam.
