Objective
You master phenomena related to climate change and you understand the possibilities of system thinking on tackling climate change. You are able to evaluate climate effects of different actors and activities and you will receive tools for future foresight. You know the basics of the calculation of greenhouse gas emission and you are able to develop and innovate actions on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. You recognise the importance of sustainable development and corporate and social responsibility in climate change mitigation. After the course you have find out new ways to evaluate climate impacts and promote sustainable measures and climate friendly operations.
Content
- Climate change as a phenomenon, impacts of climate change, climate debate, link between climate change and other environmental problems
- Climate policy as a driver
- Greenhouse gas emissions and their sources
- Basics of calculating greenhouse gas emissions
- Climate change mitigation as a part of sustainable development
- Climate change as a part of corporate and social responsibility
Location and time
1. Lukujärjestyksen mukainen lähiopetus Wärtsilä-kampuksella.
2. Verkkototeutus omaan tahtiin.
Materials
1. GHG-protokolla, hiilijalanjälkilaskuri, muu Moodleen koottava materiaali.
2. Erilliseen Moodle-oppimisympäristöön koostettu materiaali.
Teaching methods
Toteutuksella on kaksi vaihtoehtoista suoritustapaa:
1. Hiilijalanjäljen laskentaprojekti Joensuun kohdeorganisaatiolle pienryhmätyönä. Tässä suoritusvaihtoehdossa lähiopetusta ja harjoituksia sekä erikseen sovittavia tapaamisia opiskelijaryhmän ja kohdeyrityksen kesken. Toteutetaan organisaation hiilijalanjälkilaskenta.
2. Suoritetaan omaan tahtiin verkko-opintokokonaisuus Moodlesta. Ei lähiopetusta. Oppimistehtävänä oppimispäiväkirja sekä muita erillisia oppimistehtäviä.
Opettaja tiedustelee kiinnostusta eri suoritusvaihtoehtoihin. Molemmat toteutetaan rinnakkaisina.

1. Työelämäyhteistyö pohjoiskarjalaisten yritysten/muiden organisaatioiden kanssa, joille hiilijalanjälkilaskenta toteutetaan.
