Objective
You master the fundamentals of the physic-chemical, biological, ecological, hydrological and technical factors of the restoration and management technics of the aquatic ecosystems and their catchments. You are capable to choose the right technics for the management and restoration of an aquatic ecosystem that has been diagnosed first. You are capable to define and estimate the physic-chemical, biological and ecological effects and cost-efficiency of the management and restoration technics. You know the basics of Finnish legislation especially connected with the management and restoration projects and measures.
Content
The restoration and management technics of the lentic (i. e. lakes and ponds) and lotic (i. e. rivers and brooks) aquatic ecosystems, the physic-chemical, biological and ecological effects and estimating an defining the cost-efficiency of different technics. The water protection technics and constructions in the catchment especially for decreasing in most cases the diffuse loading (caused especially by agriculture, forest and peatland management and rural settlement) into aquatic ecosystems. Preparing the plan for the restoration and management of the aquatic ecosystem and its catchment based on the physic-chemical, biological and ecological diagnosis including the costs and cost-efficiency of the measures.
