Objective
- You understand the key values, ethical principles and starting points in gerontological nursing.
- You understand the meaning of home care and services, technology in ageing and the multiprofessional cooperation in gerontological nursing.
- You are able to assess, promote and support health, wellbeing and functional capacity of older people based on individual resources.
- You are able to plan and implement care and services supporting independency and autonomy of older people.
- You are able to identify vital challenges and special issues in gerontological nursing.
Content
- Key principles of nursing for the older people: values, ethical principles, key legislation and recommendations.
- Resources as a basis for promoting healthy and functional aging.
- Prerequisites for health and well-being (inc. nutrition, physical performance, safe medication, sexual health, prevention of falls, prevention of pressure ulcers) and key challenges (inc. loneliness, exclusion, abuse).
- Palliative care of patiet with memory disorder.
- Valuable end of life for the old people.
- Organizing the services for the older people, homeservices, service guidance, rehabilitative nursing, involvement of relatives in the care of the older people.
- Gerontechnology and digitalozation in care and everyday living support for older people.
- Functional assessment, main scanmethods and meters, care and service planning, care and service plan.
