Content
Preventive mental health and substance abuse work aims to prevent the emergence of problems and improve quality of life. Knowing the actors, recommendations, and forms of preventive work supports you in finding new perspectives, directing your actions, and enhancing collaboration.
The topics of the course are
Identifying social and cultural factors affecting mental health and substance use
The premises, forms, and recommendations of preventive work
Recognizing signs of mental health disorders and substance use
Actors and approaches of preventive work
The course is intended for professionals in social and health care and related fields.

Teaching methods
Opiskelu tapahtuu itsenäisesti perehtymällä aineistoihin ja tekemällä tehtäviä. Ohjeet opiskeluun sekä materiaalilinkit löytyvät Moodle-ympäristöstä. Opintojaksolla on neljä eri kokoista tehtävää.

Opintojakso on suunniteltu sosiaali- ja terveydenhuollon sekä lähialojen toimijoille. Avoimen AMK:n opintoina on tarjolla lukukauden aikana kaksi opintojaksoa ehkäisevä mielenterveys- ja päihdetyö -teemaan. Suosittelemme suorittamaan opintojaksoista ensin Ehkäisevä mielenterveys- ja päihdetyö: lähtökohdat ja toimintamallit 3 op - opinnon ja sen jatkoksi Ehkäisevä mielenterveys- ja päihdetyö: puheeksiotto ja palvelut 2 op - opinnon.
Opintosuoritukset arvioidaan neljän viikon kuluessa opintojakson suorituksesta.
