Tavoitteet

The aim of the course is to help you understand the Finnish society, and to improve your chances of becoming member of it as quickly as possible. Ex-pat students have a better chance of integration and employment when they gain a good understanding of how the new society works.

Sisältö

Topics discussed during the course explain how the Finnish society works and tell the story of Finland:

-Finnish history
-Development and structure of Finnish society
-Values, laws and democratic principles
-Rights and obligations in terms of an individual
-Finnish way of life and everyday practices
-Rules of working life and Finnish work culture
-Career advice for recruitment and employment opportunities

Please, note that this course is delivered offline only and that there is 80 % minimum attendance limit in contact sessions.

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

The course is designed for students who have come to Finland only recently. If you have prior learning that meets the learning outcomes of this course,
e.g. you have taken a similar course at another Finnish university,
lived in Finland for several years and, maybe, participated in integration training,
please, get in touch with the teacher in charge of the course to discuss RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus

Scheduled offline sessions (workshops/ presentations by specialists of working life/visits, test) 40 hours;
Independent studying (tasks/reports, studying Fair Play At Work 2022 material for the test) 64 hours

Please, note that your attendance in contact classes is compulsory.
