Objective
You will know how to estimate and reduce carbon footprint and adapt business practices to changing climate. You know the standards for organisational environmental management, life cycle analyses, and carbon neutrality. You know the practices of carbon footprint modelling and the broader context for managing greenhouse gas emissions. You will know the expert services on climate-themed businesses and can assess their risks and opportunities. You can calculate the carbon footprint of an organisation following the standard-based practices and report it accordingly.
The key contents include:
• Standards supporting climate work of an organisation (GHG Protocol and ISO standards). The systematic use of climate impact metrics in CSR management.
• Calculating the carbon footprint of an organisation (Scope 1-3)
• Creating emission reduction plans/strategies; reporting climate impacts
• Planning low-carbon solutions and climate change adaptation solutions for an organisation
• Managing and coordinating climate work at the organisational level
• Managing GHG emission mitigation and climate change adaptation activities of an organisation
Content
Professional tasks:
• Calculation of the carbon footprint of an organisation following standard-based practices.
• Leading climate and energy planning at the organisational level.
Product:
• Carbon footprint assessment report; emission reduction and climate change adaptation plan for an organisation.

Teaching methods
Focus of this course is in the climate work of different organisations. You can connect this course to your current work or you can find a real-life case from your/our partner network. After getting familiar with the standards, work continues to climate risk assessment and organisation's carbon footprint calculation. The other focus area is in the creation of emission reduction plans and how to report climate impacts (climate change mitigation and adaptation).
