Objective

You will learn through case examples how to identify, engage and maintain successful partnerships to create long-lasting sustainable value networks. You will know how industry projects are managed, and how knowledge and technology transfers operate within and between organisations. You will understand how more sustainable business models are developed. You will learn how customers’ needs and expectations are met in product and service development.

Through a cross-organisational collaboration project, you will develop organisational sustainability in regional and international contexts to generate social value. You will get familiar with the supply-chain management and coordination actions, and assessments of supplier’s responsibility. You can design corporate sustainability activities and inclusively develop their implementation plans.

• Managing industry/organisation development projects
• Carrying out a cross-organisational project for sustainability
Product:
• Project Report: Cross-organisational collaboration project on the development of organisational sustainability. Deliverables based on case study assignments.

Materials

All the study materials will be published on the course platform.

Teaching methods

The course will include a group project with a company to create solutions for sustainability in their operations. Lectures will be given by our collaborating universities, companies and in-house experts. The lectures will be recorded and can be watched at your convenience.

The group project will be conducted over two to three weeks, with the group organising their work independently.

The course is 5 ECTS which means 135 hours of student work.

Further information

This course is a Master level course. The student must have prior work experience minimum of 2 years and an applicable background degree. (See Sustainability Management admission criteria at: https://www.karelia.fi/en/sustainability-management/ .)
This course is part of the Sustainability Management Master’s Degree. If a student is selected for the programme later, it will be acknowledged.
