Objective

In the Professional Growth 1 sub-course (2 cr) you will learn to use the services and learning environments offered to you by the University of Applied Sciences. After completing the part-time course, you will know the curriculum and operating methods of your own education, you will know the actors in the supervision of your own education and you will be able to apply for guidance from the right people in connection with your studies. You know the activities and services of the student body, group in the student community and promote a good study atmosphere.
After completing the course, you will be able to work as a university student, know the Karelia University of Applied Sciences degree rules, know the principles and practices of recognising and recognising previously acquired competencies (AHOT), understand the process of personal study planning and update your personal study plan working practices.

Content

- Familiarity with the curriculum and implementation plan as well as the rules of procedure and the implementation practices of teaching
- Studying at a polytechnic, studying in groups, in pairs and in projects
- Use of data networks, data acquisition, Karelia.fi, PAKKI, PEPPI system, MoodleRooms and Outlook e-mail
- Study supervision, study curator, health care, study social benefits, parish, language services, library and information services, international services and the student association POKA
- Degree rules, general policies and rules of the game, and general and sectoral competencies
- Familiarization with working life practices and rules of the game (working life information and / or visits)
- Communality and caring, VIP student activity presentation and VIP choices
- Development of a personal study plan (HOPS) and development discussion
