- describe the importance of culture in human and community activities and understand your own culture-dependent way of thinking
- identify culture-related social phenomena and understand their importance for the human ability to function
- describe the legislation and service systems guiding multicultural work
- use professional methods in multicultural work
- work in a multicultural environment
- guide and counsel the client and support social integration

Content:

- cultural diversity in Finland and immigration-related concepts
- Finland’s own traditional cultural minorities
- professional interaction, cultural differences, and their impact on human interaction
- international agreements and legislation, immigration policy
- social integration, adaptation, and prevention of social exclusion nationally and internationally
- ethical principles of multicultural work
- multicultural case management and strengthening the clients’ life management

Dear student, welcome to the Multicultural Work course, 5 cr.
The course is open 26.8.-9.12.2024
The course has seven (7) themes and each has a learning task. To accomplish this course, you have to pass all the learning tasks and a Moodle-Exam. If you fail the final exam you can retake it two times.
