Objective

You plan, implement and evaluate public health nursing work that maintains and rehabilitates the health and ability to work of the working age, workplace and community.
You can describe the principles of good occupational health care practice.
You assess the effects of work, work communities and environments on health.
You plan, implement and evaluate the necessary proposals for action to promote the health of your clients (individual, family, group, workplace, work or other community).
You work in multidisciplinary collaborations in multidisciplinary networks.

Content

Key legislation and guidelines governing occupational health care and occupational safety, occupational health care reimbursement practices.
Occupational health care service system and its connections with various stakeholders.
Principles of good occupational health care practice.
Working age health examinations, information, counseling and guidance.
Maintaining, promoting and monitoring health, work and functional capacity.
Planning, implementation and monitoring of occupational health co-operation based on workplace surveys.
Assessment and monitoring of work and functional capacity, early support and rehabilitative activities.
Assessment of health conditions; identification of resource factors, health exposures of work environments and communities, risk and stress factors.
Major occupational diseases and occupational diseases.
Occupational health and safety.
Promoting the health of working life, workplaces, work environments and communities and monitoring well-being at work in cooperation with different actors.
Occupational health care / outpatient clinic.
Marketing and sales of occupational health services.
Maintaining, promoting and monitoring the ability of the unemployed to work and function.

Teaching methods

The course includes contact teaching, participation in which is a prerequisite for completing the course. The course includes individual, pair and group assignments.

Exam schedules

There is an exam at the end of the course with two (2) retake opportunities.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course is assessed numerically on a scale of 0-5. The course includes assessed assignments, which weigh 20% of the total grade, and an exam, which weighs 80% of the total grade.
The course assignments must be returned by the end of the course. However, no later than the end of the following semester, or the student must complete the entire course again.
