Objective
GOALS
The student gets oriented in
- fluid balance (calculation and assessment
- implementing intravenous fluid therapy
- peripheral vein cannulation
- the implementation of intravenous drug treatment (intravenous injection and intermittent infusion)
The student works
- according the principles of safe drug treatment and knows how to prevent medication errors
The student can
- plan, implement and evaluate the patient’s daily medication and fluid therapy
- monitoring and follow-up methods included in intravenous drug and fluid therapy
- guide the patient and relatives in matters related to medical treatment
- do the medical calculations correctly
The student gets practice in
- peripheral vein cannulation
- procedures and equipment related to intravenous drug and fluid therapy

CONTENTS
Theory:
- Orientation
- Intravenous drug and fluid therapy (fluid balance and fluid therapy plan)
- Fluid treatment plan exercise
- Basics of peripheral cannulas and peripheral catheters
- Basics of intravenous medication
Laborations:
- Peripheral venous cannula and venous catheter
- Venous cannulation exercise
- Liquid transfer technology (fluid transfer set, three-way tap, Q-Syte needle-free connector)
- Adding medicine to the infusion
- Intravenous drug injection
