Assessment methods and criteria

Your grade will consist of the following parts: 

Class activity 50%. Your activity in class, participation in discussions
Assignments 50% splitting in
group work 30% and
individual work part and assignments 20%

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

Incomplete or Poor Quality Assignments: Consistently submitting assignments that are incomplete, lack clarity, or do not meet the required standards.
Limited Participation: Not actively participating in class discussions, group work, or other interactive activities, which can affect your engagement and understanding.
Weak Research and Reporting Skills: Struggling to find relevant and reliable information, interpret it correctly, and transform it into coherent reports.
Incorrect Citation: Frequently making errors in citing sources, which is crucial for maintaining academic integrity.
Poor Presentation Skills: Inability to effectively communicate ideas during presentations or group projects.
Lack of Improvement: Showing little to no progress in understanding and applying course concepts over time.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Grade 1 (Needs improvement):
Demonstrates a foundational understanding of research methods and critical assessment.
Shows some effort in finding relevant and reliable information.
Beginning to develop skills in interpreting and transforming information into basic reports.
Learning to cite sources correctly.

Grade 2 (Fair):
Basic understanding of research methods; requires significant guidance.
Finds some relevant information; sources are occasionally unreliable.
Basic critical assessment skills; occasionally questions information.
Reports are somewhat structured and clear but lack of professionalism.
Occasionally cites sources; citations are sometimes incorrect.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

Grade 3 (Satisfactory):
Adequate understanding of research methods; can conduct research with some guidance.
Finds mostly relevant information; sources are generally reliable.
Adequate critical assessment skills; usually questions and evaluates information.
Reports are clear and semi-structured and somewhat professional.
Usually cites sources correctly; minor errors in citation format.

Grade 4 (Good):
Good understanding of research methods; able to conduct research independently with minor errors.
Consistently finds relevant and reliable information with minor missteps.
Good critical assessment skills; consistently questions and evaluates information with minor errors.
Reports are clear and well structured and professional with minor errors.
Consistently cites sources correctly; very few errors in citation format.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Grade 5 (Excellent):
Excellent understanding of research methods; conducts thorough and accurate research independently.
Always finds highly relevant and reliable information.
Excellent critical assessment skills; thoroughly questions and evaluates all information.
Reports are clear, very well structured, and highly professional.
Always cites sources correctly; no errors in citation format.
