Teaching methods

This course helps students with writing about their thesis reports and abstracts in English. It is done online, in Moodlerooms, by completing learning assignments in a given order. The assignments cover Academic English: its register and style, typical grammar structures, features of formal written language in scientific reports and summaries (e.g. vocabulary and phrases), and writing as a process. The tasks also include reporting about the status, the aims, and the topic of a thesis, familiarising oneself with the language and structure of Abstracts, distinquishing between different types of abstracts, and analysing media abstracts.

The student can proceed either according to the deadlines or faster at his/her own pace. The course is aimed at students at the end of their studies, at the start or during the thesis process, but no thesis topic is required before starting the course.
