Objective
The aim of the intensive programme is to explore current questions related to economics and business between Russia and Finland/ EU. The programme brings together Karelia UAS degree and exchange students, Russian university students and Russian and Finnish experts on economics, business and forestry. The five-day study excursion to St.Petersburg hosted by St.Petersburg State Forest Techical University introduces the Russian operational environment. Planning and carrying out the programme for the Russian partners in Joensuu teaches hosting and more multicultural group work skills.
Content
Preliminary studying for compiling a report in mixed groups with Russian and Karelia students on the following topics in January-February:The roles of the Russian Federation and Finland in the world economy.Foreign trade between Finland and the Russian Federation.Foreign trade between North Karelia and the Russian FederationThe present and future of the forest sector in the Russian Federation and FinlandThe possibilities for businesses in the Saint Petersburg region and North KareliaActive participation in the six-day excursion programme in Russia, St.Petersburg, in February, 2017: lectures, group work, company visits, get-togethers, cultural programme.Planning and hosting the five-day excursion of our Russian partners to Joensuu and Karelia in April, 2017: lectures, company visits, get-togethers, cultural programme.

1st intensive week Mon-Fri 22-25 Feb 2021, at 10 –14/15 and
2nd intensive week 12 –13/ 14 April, at 10 –14/15

Teaching methods
The 10th implementation of the programme in 2021 will be conducted online.
International connections
The programme will be organized in co-operation with our Russian partner, Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical University.
Student workload
January-February: Preliminary reading, compiling a report and a PP presentation in teams, active participation in online meetings, 54 hours
March-April: preparing a presentation for the educational fair, conducting an interview with a company representative, active participation in online meetings, 27 hours
