French pronunciationLaajuus (3 cr)

Objective

This study unit is taught in Finnish. The translation has not been updated after 17 February 2025. Please change the language to Finnish in Peppi and read the description in Finnish Having completed the course, the students can produce the sounds of the French language and know the most central correspondences between the spelling and the pronunciation. The students will be able to distinguish and produce an affirmative and an interrogative sentence with correct intonation. The students know special characteristics of the French accentuation, intonation, and rhythm, as well as the most central rules relative to liaison.

Content

On the course the students will practice independently with the help of interactive exercises and according to the learning outcomes the French sounds, stress and intonation as well as send in assignments to the teacher.

Qualifications

No previous studies in French or French 1 or corresponding studies on the level A1.1 of the Common European Framework

Hyväksytty: Opiskelija osaa tuottaa vähintään tyydyttävästi rankan äänteet, tunnistaa ja osaa tuottaa väite- ja kysymyslauseen intonaation, sekä tuntee keskeisimmät oikeinkirjoituksen ja ääntämisen väliset vastaavuudet ja sidontaa koskevat säännöt. Hylätty: Opiskelija ei osaa tuottaa ranskan äänteitä ymmärrettävällä tavalla, ei erota väite- ja kysymyslauseen intonaatiota, ei tunne keskeisimpiä oikeinkirjoituksen ja ääntämisen välisiä vastaavuuksia tai sidontaa koskevia sääntöjä.

Accomplishment methods

Independent study and assignments in Moodle 81 hours. Evaluation criteria Interactive exercises in Moodle 0-5, the lowest passable score being 75 % of the maximum score. Send in assignments pass-fail. The final grade pass-fail. Completing the course requires the completing of the assignments and exercises in the given schedule.
