Objective
The student knows the characteristics of studying and learning in higher education. The student knows North Karelia University of Applied Sciences as a learning environment. The student knows the objectives and study possibilities of his/her degree programme. He is able to work in the NKUAS working environment and is able to use the electronic services that are in use at NKUAS. The student knows him as a learner and is able to set objectives for both his progress and competence. The student acknowledges his responsibility for his learning and will get skills to plan his studies and time management. Under guidance, the student will make an Individual Study Plan (ISP) that will be adjusted yearly.
The student understands the importance of acquisition and management of information as a part of his learning process and developing his professional skills. The student is able to draw up texts and documents that conform to instructions given and fill the criteria set for their quality. The student is able to use computers, tools and networks securely and responsibly as means for studying of working. The student is able to use up-to-date information technology both in interacting with others and acquiring and transmitting data. The student is able to utilize data environments and networks that are constantly changing.

NKUAS webpage, different centres' webpages, intranet, SoleOPS planning software for teaching, network services and user rights, internet and e-mail, IT services online, academic writing, social media, e-learning environments (getting acquainted with Moodle), tools and software for remote working, student-Winha.
