Content

Patients with medical and surgical conditions can be encountered in a wide range of healthcare settings. Their health challenges may relate to internal medicine, surgical diseases, or both simultaneously, making nursing care both diverse and demanding.

This course deepens the student’s clinical competence in medical and surgical nursing. The aim is to strengthen the use of evidence-based nursing practices, patient safety, and interprofessional collaboration in the care of adults with acute and chronic conditions. The student will develop clinical reasoning, patient education skills, and the appropriate use of nursing documentation and assessment tools in various care environments.

Current medical and nursing recommendations related to the care of medical and surgical patients
Systematic assessment and treatment of medical and surgical patients
Symptoms, differential diagnosis, treatment, and risk factors patients with medical and surgical diseases
Utilization and interpretation of diagnostic tests in the care of medical and surgical patients
Clinical pathways for patients with medical and surgical diseases
Purposeful use of nursing documentation and assessment tools
