Objective

Student is able to
- identify, implement and evaluate patient's pain management and other symptoms management in a multidisciplinary team
- assess and support palliative care patient's quality of life and functional ability
- encounter and support holistically the patient's and families' suffering, grief and renunciation at different stages

Content

Pain Management: WHO Pain Managment Scale. Measuring and evaluation of pain levels, anticipation and planning. Main medications and their side-effects. Non-pharmacological nursing care. Other symptomatic treatment. Symptoms mapping and planning, fatigue, shortness of breath, swelling, nausea, nutritional problems, constipation and urinary problems, suffering, grief, renunciation, hope, existential and spiritual questions, social issues. Incurable/terminally ill patient's quality of life and functional ability evaluation and multi-professional supportcare team in palliative carepatient and the family encounter, nurse-physician-collaboration, cooperation with various experts; social work, physiotherapy, emergency care, congregation, volunteer organizations and other actors. Consultation practices and decision making.
