Responsible person
- Annikki Tanskanen
Objective
During this study unit You
- know practical production techniques for moisture damage repairs
- can make moisture and purity management plans for the repair construction
- can make a plan for following up the success of the repair construction
- can assess the thermal and moisture technical risks and alternative repair methods related to the most common structural solutions of different eras
- identify specific actions to address the indoor environmental problem
Content
The content of the study unit
- structural solutions for different eras: risk structures and structures in accordance with good construction practice
- typical problems and general repair solutions for structural solutions of different eras
- the physical properties of old building materials and their effects on the indoor environment
- practical production techniques for moisture damage repairs
- alternative remedies e.g. dismantling, partial repair, contaminant management solutions (removal / omission of damaged material, seal repair, vacuuming)
- special measures for the repair of contaminants and moisture and mold damage (protection work, demolition and cleaning work, final cleaning and use of biocides) and occupational safety issues
- principles and plans for site moisture and purity
- the importance of cleaning after repair of moisture and mold damage and the methods for monitoring the quality of cleaning
- requirements for repair work documentation
- relevance and methods of follow-up
