Objective

During this study unit You will
- know the basic principles of conducting condition assessments and condition surveys of buildings and structures
- know the laboratory research methods of condition research and you can analyze them
- prepare a condition research report
- know the damage mechanisms of concrete buildings and the methods of condition examination of concrete structures.
- be able to use the field and laboratory research equipment needed for the study of concrete structures.
- be able to assess the extent of corrosion based on the research results obtained.
- observe the technical condition of small and terraced houses.
- know how to identify the risk structures of our building stock and the main principles of repairing their risk structures

The content of the study unit
- concepts: condition assessment, condition inspection, condition research
- damage to structures
- condition assessment methods
- sensory evaluation of the condition of structures
- harmful substances: asbestos, pcb, creosote, lead
- construction methods and materials of different eras, construction defects by era
- risk structures
- weathering, carbonation, corrosion
- research facilities and their use; laboratory tests: tensile (concrete drill sample and cream insulation), compression, relative humidity of concrete, hammer, depth of carbonation
