Thermodynamics and Fluid MechanicsLaajuus (4 cr)

Code: LTR6015

Credits

4 op

Teaching language

  • Finnish

Responsible person

  • Miska Piirainen

Objective

The student
- is able to use common logic of the thematic issue to solve simple problems mathematically
- is able to use learned logic for the planning of uncomplicated lab measurements and to make the measurements and corresponding calculations and analyse the results.

Content

Basics of thermodynamics: meter scales, thermal expansion. Thermal energy, volumetric thermal expansion, latent heat. Heat transfer: conduction, convection, radiation. Static of fluids: pressure, hydrostatic pressure, buoyancy. Hydraulics: volume flow rate and form of Bernoullis equation. Frictional flows and pressure loss. Lab tests (in co-operation with the course LTR6015).
