Objective

You know the source materials and otential for transport biofuels. You know the main principles of combustion engines and the suitability of different biofuels for ignition and diesel engines. You can assess the environmental impact and energy balance of biofuel production in transport. You know the steps of bioethanol and plant methyl ester production and quality assessment, and you know the basics of BTL technology. You are familiar with the possibilities of using methane fuels in vehicles and the technology of use. You know the possibilities of electrical engineering and hybrid technology in vehicle traffic and know the basics of designing charging systems for electric cars.

Content

Chemical composition and suitability of biomass for various biofuels. Fundamentals of motor science and emission control technology. Diesel and positive ignition engine fuel requirements and fuel quality criteria. Energy balance analysis of transport fuels and the impact of production on the environment. Alcohol fermentation and ethanol separation, absolutization and denaturation. Compression, purification, esterification and quality assessment of rapeseed oil. Biomass digestion and separation of methane from impurities. Transport technology for biofuels.
