Objective

Student:
- understands the relevant fields of application of different research methods with a view on their strengths and weaknesses
- can select suitable research methods and knows how to apply them in one's own thesis project
- understands the centrality of a knowledge base in the realization of one's own thesis and can build a relevant knowledge base based on research literature and other source materials.

Content

The course focuses on methods and approaches that are relevant in media and communications studies, what their background is and how they can be applied in one's own thesis project. The course consists of thesis workshops and associated assignments. Students also follow thesis seminars and prepare their own thesis plans.
