Objective
You are able to participate in the development work of a company in accordance with the principles of Lean Six Sigma. You are able to identify opportunities for improving operating methods. You are able to solve practical problems with the help of Lean Six Sigma tools and methods. The aim is for you to be able to participate in a small-scale development project implemented according to the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC method.

Student workload
This course requires total student work 105 hours. This contains about 50 hours of lectures. Rest of the time goes for exercises, group works and preparing for the final test.

H-5
Assessment methods and criteria
Grades are given by numbers from 0 to 5. Number 5 is the highest grade and 1 is lowest and 0 is not approved.
The grade is based on the total number of points collected from assignments and exams
approx. more than 50% of the points correspond to grade 1
approx. less than 60% of the points correspond to grade 2
approx. less than 70% of the points correspond to grade 3
approx. less than 80% of the points correspond to grade 4
approx. 90%, or of the points correspond to grade 5
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)
The student is able to use main/single concepts and demonstrate mastery of the basic knowledge of the competence area. The student is able to act appropriately when solving simple problems, although the activities may be tentative. The student is able to act according to instructions and solve basic tasks.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
The student is able to use concepts consistently and demonstrate mastery of the basic knowledge of the competence area. The student is able to choose appropriate ways to model simple problems in the subject area. The student is able to solve basic tasks. The student is able to apply his/her competence in basic tasks.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to use the systems, terms and concepts discussed during the course expertly and combine them into entities. The student is able to apply his/her competence in different tasks and situations.
