The course materials and assignments will be available in Moodle.

Teaching methods

The course includes workshops where spoken and written business communication is practiced and evaluated. There is also an integrated assignment with the course of Professional Sales and Negotiation Skills.

Exam schedules

Students' skills in spoken and written business communication will be assessed in different assignments during the course. The student must submit evidence of his/her business communication skills by the end of the course. There will be another possibility for retake the course in May and another in late August 2024.

Completion alternatives

The student who has the required skills that s/he has acquired through formal studies in a higher education institution or by working in a diverse workplace in international business can apply for RPL. Such a student must contact the teacher in charge of the study unit in advance.

Workshops 26 h, e-learning in small groups, in pairs and individually 25 h, self study 24 h, assessment and feedback 6 h

Assessment methods and criteria

continual assessment 20% (active participation in classroom work and submitting Moodle assignments on time),
written assignments compiled into a portfolio 40%, and
evidence-based assessment of spoken communication skills 40% (telephoning, negotiating and meeting skills).

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

The student is not able to convey the necessary business content to the recipient in a professional manner because of serious grammatical, lexical or stylistic problems that impede understanding. The written messages are not edited and contain typos.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student
- is able to take contextual, relational and cultural aspects into account in both internal and external business communication
- can produce speech and text that is accurate, positive, tactful and effective in the given situation.
- is able to choose the medium, approach and tone that shows professionalism
