After successfully completing the course, you understand the different types of workplace diversity (internal, external, organisational and fundamental) and know how they impact intra- and inter-organisational dynamics. You are able to analyse and explain how cultural dimensions, such as power distance, time conceptions or individualism vs collectivism, impact the preferred management and leadership styles, recruitment, planning, decision making and problem-solving. You are able to work in, contribute to and lead an agile and distributed global team. You are able to observe good business ethics and professional code of conduct in studies and work.

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

Students who have acquired relevant experience and required practical skills through their work in diverse work communities in international organisations can complete the course by demonstrating their familiarity with the theoretical aspects of intercultural management in an Exam. The RPL Proof of Competence process requires the student to contact the teacher in advance and present testimonials from their previous employers.

The course on Intercultural Management builds upon the first semester-course on Intercultural Communication, which together with Introduction to Business should be completed prior to Intercultural Management. However, students with corresponding knowledge acquired elsewhere can take this course.

Your knowledge of intercultural management is assessed in an exam, which makes 60% of the final grade. The group work and individual assignments contribute to the final grade by 40%.

The student is not able to show sufficient familiarity with the basic theoretical aspects of intercultural management in the exam and/or has not taken part in class discussions or workshops to demonstrate his/her ability to apply theoretical knowledge into case studies and simulations.
