Objective

• Understand the role and ethical responsibility of social and health care workers in affecting decision making connected to health effects of climate change to older people
• Describe international, national and regional level policy frameworks concerning health effects of climate change to older people
• Influence policy which addresses the health challenges of older people affected by climate change
• promote actively the older people’s participation and possibilities to influence policy

Content

MC13 builds skills to influence policy makers in issues of health risks for older persons from climate change. Understanding international, national and regional policy frameworks will support learners to influence and advocate. The role of civic activism and self-organization is emphasized. Learners will develop their competence in promoting and supporting the effective participation of older people in advocacy. Learners will explore these issues in their own working contexts and develop ideas to be applied in practice.

You must begin with the course Climate Change and Its Effects on Older Persons’ Health, as it forms the foundation for the other microcredentials. The course is at EQF level 6 (Bachelor’s degree level).
