Objective

After completing the course, you will be able to communicate orally in basic work situations (see content). You will be familiar with the Russian communication style and apply it in your own speech. You will write short work-related messages not only by hand but also using the Russian keyboard. You can search for information on travel, fairs, products and companies on Russian language websites.

Content

You study and learn the basics of working Russian both in class and independently.

During the classes, you will practice and simulate small work situations with a partner, in small groups and independently. In the exercises, you will strengthen both speaking and listening skills. Between the classes, you will complete weekly reading, writing and information retrieval assignments in which you will apply the skills acquired in the classroom. You also reflect on your own learning and study.

The course includes practice in basic communication situations in working life, mainly oral:
- Telephone contacts
- Travel arrangements and travel (schedules, tickets, hotel, restaurant, shopping)
- Visits to trade fairs
- Company visits (as a host and guest)
- Explaining about your working day, tasks and job

You will practice the structures needed in communicative situations, both orally and in writing:
- Verbs of motion with prefixes
- Reflexive verbs
- Inflection of nouns
- Adjectives and personal pronouns in the singular
- Verb tenses and verbal aspect

You will learn to:
- Use the Russian keyboard
- To write short work-related messages (invitation, itinerary and congratulatory message)
- To use online resources for information search and independent language learning

Face-to-face work and tests and feedback approx. 26 hours; distance and self-study and preparation for tests 104 hours.

Completion alternatives

You will have the opportunity to validate your existing competences that meet the learning outcomes of the course through the AHOT validation procedure.

Preferably, you should make an appointment with the teacher in charge before the start of the course to discuss the conditions for starting the AHOT procedure.

Assessment methods and criteria

Two written tests (25% each), oral test (25%),
continuous assessment (25%).

Passing the course requires active participation in face-to-face teaching, return of learning assignments and successful completion of all tests.
