Objective

The aim of INVEST Living Lab Project is to support and enable the implementation of Thesis work at Karelia UAS to meet the requirement of 30 ECTS of INVEST Thesis work. This 15 ECTS includes student practice work at Living Lab North Karelia and is integrated as part of the Thesis process.

You will develop your teamwork and other working life skills and be able to work in a multidisciplinary environment. You will be able to apply skills you have learned in your earlier studies, in a Living Lab, solving real-world problems together in a group. You will be able to analyse and evaluate project activities and communicate the results.

Content

A variety of approaches, methods, final products, etc. is possible. Like applied research, planning, production or development tasks, creation of a work of art or a concrete product or production, such as a manual, book, model, display, collection, or a piece of technical equipment. It is possible, under conditions, to work in (multidisciplinary) pairs or teams.

Teaching methods

The INVEST Living Lab Project is conducted in a living lab (ie. organisation) in North Karelia. Supervision is provided both from Karelia UAS and the organisation. During the practical training, you will become acquainted with the work environment, work tasks, and skills required in the profession of an engineer in your future profession.

Before the Livin Lab Project starts you will attend an information session or get acquainted with the material online. During this session, you will learn how to report the INVEST Living Lab Project to receive the credits. The reporting will include a written report, diary and memos of two development discussions with the supervisor from the Living Lab.

Your tasks and responsibilities within the Living Lab will be agreed on together with the organisation and Karelia UAS.
