You are able to understand, analyse and apply local, national and regional-level policies relevant to energy systems and energy transition at the community level. You know how renewable energy policies are both formulated and applied. You can develop context-specific strategies for building and engaging community support for renewable energy policy and advocacy for the adoption by policy-makers and governance bodies.
Content
The main contents of this course include:
- Energy-related policy analysis, including Technology Readiness Levels of energy technologies; EU taxonomy for sustainable activities; national and regional climate mitigation and adaptation targets; European New Green Deal; Sustainable Development Goals.
- Advocacy and strategy development for building public support for renewable energy policy.
- Alignment of renewable energy models with community-level business models.

Teaching methods
In this course we will go through different level policies relevant to energy systems and energy transition at the community level. You will understand how advocacy work on this theme can be made and what kind of movements are there when it comes to energy transition. Learning task is to make a advocacy and movement plan in small groups.
Employer connections
Working life cooperation will be presented as case examples and through study visits.
Student workload
This course is 5 ECTS which corresponds to 135 hours work load for a student.
