Objective

After completing the course, you will understand the effects of construction on our own living environment and how these effects can be minimized. During the course you will get to know e.g. how the implementation of zoning, design, material selection and demolition can affect the environmental impact of our built environment. During the course, you will also learn about the different methods used to carry out environmental impact assessments and how legislation guides environmental impact assessments.

Content

The course includes:
- Zoning and the possibilities of land use impact and their control
- Emissions from construction and use of materials.
- Environmental statements for construction materials and the environmental impact assessment based on them
- Standards for sustainable construction
- Circular economy and its requirements for the environmental impact of construction

Location and time

The study course is carried out completely without being tied to time and place.

Materials

All material needed is in Moodle platform.

Teaching methods

After completing the course, you will understand the effects of construction on our own living environment and how these effects can be minimized. During the course you will get to know e.g. how the implementation of zoning, design, material selection and demolition can affect the environmental impact of our built environment. During the course, you will also learn about the different methods used to carry out environmental impact assessments and how legislation guides environmental impact assessments.

- EPD:s for construction materials and the environmental impact assessment based on them
- Standards for sustainable construction
- Circular economy and its requirements for the environmental impact of construction

Student workload

Guided lectures 4h and the student's independent work 77h.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The course is approved when all assigned tasks have been returned and an approved assessment has been received. For each sub-task, the evaluation criteria have been announced on the Moodle platform by task.
